Biography

David James Grex was born in the western Chicago suburb of Elgin, Illinois on February 24, 1979. His family moved further west to the suburb of St. Charles, IL in the summer of 1989. There, David attended (Burlington) Central High School, where he was a decorated, four-sport student-athlete.

After graduating from High School in 1997, David moved to the southwest, and went on to attend Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. While at ASU, he continued to be a student-athlete, running Cross-Country and Track & Field (1997-99) for the Sun Devils. He was also active on campus, and was elected Resident Hall Association President of the freshmen dormitories (1997-98). In May of 2001, David would graduate with his Bachelor Degree in Finance.

David stayed in the Phoenix area upon graduation and began his professional career as an Analyst for William M. Mercer. After a short stint there, he moved into the Media industry, where he has now spent nearly 8 years, as a Financial Analyst with Cox Media in early 2002. He was then promoted to Business Manager for Cox Media, and relocated with his then-fiance, Sarah, to the Washington, D.C. area in April of 2004.

A year after arriving in D.C., David transferred into Advertising Sales Management with Cox Media, got married, and bought his first house in 2005.  In March of 2008, after 6 years with the organization, David resigned from Cox Media to relocate his family to North Liberty, Iowa and take a position as an Advertising Sales Manager with OnMedia in Cedar Rapids & Iowa City.

As an Advertsing Sales Manager with OnMedia, David works with locally-owned companies in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty (and other surrounding areas) to create strategic marketing plans that help these businesses grow. He intends to bring this experience to the North Liberty City Council, where he can work with the local community to drive progress in the years ahead.

Personal

David James Grex has been married to Sarah Nicole Disburg, of Carroll, IA since March of 2005. David and Sarah have two beautiful children - Ryan (2) and Payton (7 months).

David comes from a family of five. His four siblings are Megan (33 - Texas), Michael (28 - Delafield, WI), Kirstie (23 - Elgin, IL) and Erin (21 - Champaign, IL).
